BlackStone is the story of a glacier shaped by time and a man driven by passion for exploration and watchmaking. A glacier made eternal. A story of permanence and resilience.
During his expedition to Alaska, J.S.A encountered the BlackStone glacier, a symbol of raw beauty in a changing world. Inspired by this adventure, our client entrusted us with his first personalization, seeking to capture both the strength and fragility of that moment.

Since its inception, our workshop has worked meticulously to offer our passionate clientele the most personalised horology experience. The soul
of ice
A movement that hides nothing. The caliber is fully skeletonized, beveled and hand-finished. Its skeletonized yellow-gold rotor and mirror-polished, rounded-off steel balance bridge create a subtle contrast between transparency and depth.
Bezel Setting

Absolute black
A bezel where the hand-set black spinels absorb the light, while the sapphire lets it pass through. A stone symbolising both strength and rarity.
Sapphire Dial

Mysterious
depth
Carved from a single block of smoky sapphire, the dial symbolizes both the fragility and power of nature. Highly scratch-resistant, the sapphire remains vulnerable to impact, a metaphor for the glacier itself. The “smoked black” metallization creates a sense of mystery, highlighted by white-gold applied hour-markers. The green Super-LumiNova® evokes nature’s resilience.

MODIFICATIONS
Hands
The white-gold hands are trimmed, beveled and meticulously satin-brushed by hand. To ensure their durability, they are palladium-treated. The seconds hand is sandblasted and features a bright white tip for enhanced readability.
Rotor
The yellow-gold rotor is skeletonized and hand-beveled, revealing a circular satin finish.
Balance Bridge
Carved from a solid block of steel, the balance bridge symbolizes strength and precision. It is hand-beveled, rounded-off and mirror-polished.

J.S.A. PERSONAL MARK
BlackStone is a tribute to resilience and the natural elements that shape our world. Black spinel was an obvious choice for its rarity and ethical sourcing, expressing my commitment to the environment. This deep black gemstone symbolises strength and permanence. The sapphire dial reflects the glacier’s duality: both resistant and fragile.
